Annie of Ancient Moon Bellydance

Annie has been bellydancing what she considers "full time" for  4 1/2 years.  Prior to that she had about a year of classes and had taken a few workshops.  But it was only a casual hobby until she saw Jenny Helms of MoonSister perform.  Annie was awestruck by the beauty of ATS.  And immediately began to pursue her question of "What is ATS?"   In November of 2008, Annie completed her General Skills certification from Carolena Nericcio (the director of FatChanceBellydance and the creator of ATS).  Then, in the Fall of 2009 she completed Teacher Training and Teacher Training II, again with Carolena.   And recently Annie was accepted by FatChanceBellydance as a Sister Studio!!

Annie currently takes classes from Maysameh in Newton, NC who Annie credits with enabling her to grow and embrace herself as a dancer.  Over the years, Annie has danced a bit of Egyptian Orientale, some Tribal Fusion and even Bhangra, but ATS is where her heart is.  She loves the comraderie and cooperation that makes ATS the beautiful, powerful dance that it is.

Annie says anyone can bellydance.  She really encourages everyone to try ATS because of the love that the dance symbolizes.  In our society, women often aren't happy with themselves.  ATS isn't about fitting into society's ideas of beauty.  ATS is re-defining what beautiful is!
